World Championships

The World Champs are now only 5 months away and preparations are well in hand by the organising committee.  To date 16 countries have entered teams for the event so we will have a great chance to see flyers from all over the world competing.  The major sponsor for the event is JR(Japanese Radio) in conjunction with their Australian Importer Model Flight, www.modelflight.com.au

There are still opportunities for supporters to be involved by becoming an official in the running of the WCs.  Officials will be provided with WC T Shirt, Cap, Stubby Holder and Meals during the Championship races.  Send an email to secretary@f3dwc2011.com  if you can provide support but have not yet registered.

AMPRA 2011

This will be held in Grafton over the long weekend in June, 11-13th June 2011.  The Grafton Club have had a reduction of members of late but are still working to provide the venue for our championships.  This will mean that AMPRA members will have to assist in the actual running of the event when they are not flying themselves.  As all members should be aware it is becoming more difficult to find suitable venues to run our championships, so I trust that all AMPRA members will be prepared to assist when required to ensure  we have a successful event.

Although this year is not a traditional selection event, we will be conducting a selection event to pick a Junior member for the Australian Team for this years WC.. To date I have not been advised of any other juniors who will contest the position, other than those from QLD, of which there are three.  If you are aware of any other juniors could you please advise me as soon as possible.

Schedule

At this stage the schedule will be:

Saturday                      FA1(F3D modified) including Junior Selection Trail

Sunday                        Q500/QM in alternating rounds, followed by Start of F400 time permitting

Monday                       F400

Q500 & QM  will be flown on the short course.

As we will be providing our own judging could I ask that members be prepared to stay until the end of the F400 Event.

The Events will be run under the current rules on the AMPRA website. We will aim to have 7 rounds for each event subject to weather conditions.

Annual General Meeting

The AGM will be held on Saturday night,11th June following dinner at the Grafton Services Club.  The meeting will start at 8.00pm to ensure everyone has had time to have their meal.  If there are any items for the AGM or nominations for the positions on the AMPRA committee, please ensure they are forwarded to the secretary no later than 27th May 2011.

The Annual AMPRA meeting will follow on from the AGM.  Again any items for the annual meeting should be forwarded to the Secretary by 27th May 2011.

AMPRA 2012

This will be a WC team selection event, so if any of your clubs wish to host the event they should advise AMPRA in writing before the 27th May 2011 so a vote can be taken on the selection of the venue.

Accommodation

There is a great selection of Hotels, Motels & Caravan parks in Grafton or South Grafton which is closer to the flying field.  If you copy and paste this link to wotif you will be able to make a selection from available places.

Camping will be available at the field.  I would suggest that a donation to the club of $10 per campsite would be appropriate to help cover costs.

Catering will be available at the field on Saturday-Monday.

Please contact me if there are any issues that need to be attended to.
